Germany’s Love Parade Turns Deadly / 19 Killed In Stampede
//////// Sad news from Germany as their annual Love Parade turns into a frenzy. It’s tragic to report grimly news on what should be a magical event, our condolences to all.
19 people have died and 340 more are injured in an avalanche that occurred over an alleged collective panic attack in the tunnel entrance to the macro party which celebrated the ‘Love Parade’ in Duisburg, western Germany.
The victims were nine women and six men, police said.
In addition, ten participants lost consciousness and had to be resuscitated by emergency services after the incident, explained police chief, Ralf Klauck. According to sources there were over 150 wounded. Rescue helicopters landed on a nearby highway to serve them
According to local TV station WDR to the party 1.4 million people attended. The main stage, a large open space previously used as a freight train station, had been limited by a metallic fence not to exceed half a million attendees.
Half an hour before the stampede, some attendees called the police warning that “the situation was unsustainable and will cause a tragedy,” said Fabio, one of the participants. “I was in the midst of people and pressure from outside, from those who wanted to enter, continuously increasing,” he said.

Insomniac Events / Enforces 18+ Only Events / FakeIDs Rise
////////// Insomniac events has announced they will be introducing the 18 and over policy at all their events. The idea of 18+ events is not unusual and actually most festivals in the UK are 18+. The recent change probably was set off by the recent crowd control fiasco at the Electric Daisy Carnival on Saturday. I think I just saw the price for fake IDs go up!
Effective immediately, Insomniac has also established an “18 and older” policy for all of the company’s dance music festivals until such time as Insomniac implements IAG’s recommended standard operating procedures. Insomniac has purchased handheld ID scanners, which will be used at all future “18 and older” Insomniac events. Insomniac will refund the full ticket price to anyone under the age of 18 who has already purchased tickets to upcoming Insomniac dance music festivals. Ticketholders under the age of 18 can send an email to refunds@insomniac.com detailing their name, phone number and the name of the event and outlet where they bought the ticket (e.g. Ticketmaster, GrooveTickets, or retail store). POP2010 / The Dream / SKILLS / Turns Into A Nightmare.
///////// POP “The Dream” turned into a nightmare and then death for one Santa Clara partygoer, Anthony Mata, 23.
Police say Mata was one of at least eight people, ranging in age from 17 to 28, who got extremely sick after ingesting the party drug ecstasy.[abc]
So what was the problem here? Bad drugs, extreme heat or a simple overdose? Even to a sober person the Cow Palace was extremely hot inside, with the main dance floor doors shut closed people were shoved into exiting to small side corridors. It’s great that SKILLS is working with local police to crack down on dealers but what about their patrons that paid up to $75.00 to enter the party. Could they not afford proper ventilation?
