Superstar DJ David Guetta released his latest album “Nothing But the Beat” recently. This much anticipated album is a two disc set which caters to Guetta’s massive audience range – the first disc is meant for newer audiences familiar with the DJ’s radio-friendly pop-meets-house style reminiscent of “Sexy Bitch” and “I Gotta Feeling”. It’s a star-studded disc that features Nicki Minaj, Flo Rida, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne, Timbaland, Dev, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J, Taio Cruz, Ludacris, and Sia. The second disc pays tribute to Guetta’s house roots with which he still identifies primarily before all else. In true dance music fashion, the second disc lets the beat take the spotlight without the hype of celebrity vocals. David Guetta is arguably the driving force in today’s Europop dance craze that has swept stateside and brought EDM to the forefront of American music. With this newest album, he gives hip-hop, pop, and house fans something to enjoy. In his words, “I wanted to create a bridge between electronic culture and urban culture.” Perhaps this album accomplishes that.
